CYPRUS and, in particular, the PAPHOS AREA
Home

We first visited Cyprus in 1984, just 10 years after the North/South Divide.

Paphos provided our initiation to this fascinating Island. We flew from heathrow to Larnaca, followed by a three hour coach drive to Paphos. The newly commissioned airport at Paphos was only being used for a few local flights whilst it was undergoing trials.

Our first ever accommodation in Cyprus was at the Aloe Hotel, much smaller then but still rather nice! We were very lucky to stay there when the original family were still in control. Very friendly and lots of lovely fresh Apricots! We were on one of the early package holidays in Cyprus with British Airways "Enterprise" operator. A wonderful experience, very inexpensive, and both children going completely free on this Full Board holiday.

We knew that, after falling in live with Cyprus, we just had to return. However costs rose quite dramatically and we could not afford a return visit straight away. When we did return three years later, on an "Aspro Holidays" package, we went to a lovely little hotel in Protaris - The Oasis Apartments.

Now we had the bug so the next two visits were to Limassol. First the Polyxenni and then the Balmyra.

Then, at last, back to Paphos where we discovered the Sofianna Apartments, where we have been ever since.

Over the many years that we have since visited Cyprus we have met many local people and have made good friends of a great number.

This website is dedicated to all our friends that we have made.
